Bhuvneshwar Kumar: truly a humble star

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has proved to be a precious gem contributing to the glory of Team India. He is going to give us a very long joy ride in the stream of cricket. This calm and composed young player from Uttar Pradesh is a very responsible and compassionate human being as he has already donated Rs. 1 lakh for the flood victims in Uttarakhand.  Incidentally, Unmukt Chand – the talented young cricketer from Delhi – has also given Rs. 1 lakh. We respect both of them for showing their concern.
It is interesting to note that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the very first bowler who has taken his first wicket in each format of the game by the clean bowled mode.
Bhuvneshwar KumarAnother great phenomenon is that he is able to handle long spells of bowling. One of my friends and an ardent follower of Bhuvneshwar Kumar always shows concern about the need for Bhuvneshwar to be more muscular. Remember the case of Ajit Agarkar, whose lack of strength led him to a diminishing career. Also, Bhuvneshwar is liable to maintain the quality of his bowling from the very beginning till the end, for which a lot of energy is needed. So hopefully the coach will work out something real quick and might give a few valuable tips to Bhuvneshwar.
Bhuvneshwar is also a right hand lower middle order batsman, though currently he will have to bat in the lower order, many believe that he has the tremendous capacity to improvise in his batting. Also, he got three wickets on his debut through some outstanding swing bowling in an international match against Pakistan in Bengalore in December 2012. In fact, he has achieved so much so quickly that I do not want to go subjective following statistics, which, by now every fan of Bhuvneshwar jolly well knows.
Also, Bhuvneshwar Kumar came to notice when he bowled none other than the legend Sachin Tendulkar for a duck in 2008-09 in a first class match.
On a different note, the UP coach Venkatesh Prasad had opined that Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be more suitable for Test Cricket. This is very heartening news as everyone will surely like him to contribute in Tests as well and strengthen Team India’s position in the longer format.
Bhuvneshwar has been instrumental in almost every win Team India has acquired recently, be it in England or in the West Indies. As expected in the finals of tri-series between India and Sri Lanka, he hunted the deadly Mahela Jayawardene and Upul Tharanga, which broke the back of Sri Lanka’s batting order. His figures read 8-4-24-2. This compelled me to remember another of his most impressive achievement, when he had given only 18 runs in 9 overs and also took two wickets in the Champions Trophy.
Honestly, so much has already been written and rightfully said about him, but I want to point out an item in the newspaper, which I really intend to share with millions of his fans – that Bhuvneshwar has recently risen 29 places to reach the top 20 bowlers in the world rankings. What else except tons of good wishes for keeping this up!
